Dedication

Mr. David MacLeod

In our \^ears at Western, we have seen Dave MacLeod in many places. He can be
found in the classroom, in his office, at the pool table, and in the dining hall, but no
matter where we see him, one fact remains apparent. This is a man of God.

Dave has been a guiding force behind many of us here at Western. His grasp of
scripture and the value he places on communicating this same understanding to
students have earned him honor among the students and a respectable place on
Western's faculty.

Dave will be leaving at the end of this year to pursue his doctorate at Dallas
Theological Seminary. We will watch him go with a distinct feeling of loss and he may
go with the knowledge that all of us who have had the privilege of studying under him
have been richly blessed.

Thank you, Dave MacLeod, for that port of your life you have shared with us.

"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. "

It is for your guidance in our study and your dedication to that same study that we
dedicate the 1977-78 yearbook to you, Mr. MacLeod.

TO
OUR NEW PRESIDENT

President Boyd,

It is with glad expectation that we anticipate your tenure as
President of Western Bible College. Realizing that the task
before you is neither simple or ever-joyful, we offer honest
efforts to understand and our fervent prayers for your success
and well-being. We bid you fare well, not as a good-bye, but as a
felicitous greeting.

" . . Forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward
to what lies ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of
the upward call of God in Christ." Philippians 3:13,14.

A Time to Weep and a Time to Laugh. . .

In jubilation we view

The completion of this stage of our

journey.

In grief we view

The porting of our ways.

We have lost some battles.

But the war is ours!

We weep over those things we must leave

behind,

But we throw our heads back in laughter

of exultation at that which we have

accomplished

And the glory of our joy shines

In the expectation of our future.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the

A Time to Plant and a Time to Uproot
What is Planted

Until this time our lives have been

cultivated.

The time has arrived which constrains us

to take account.

Today we must winnow out that which
chokes our effectiveness
And carefully graft into our being that
which will grow into a tree of life.

A Time to Search and a Time to Give
Up as Lost

We have been engaged in a mission
The mission of every man-
To find that which Is.
And we have found Him!

That which is- God,

Our Lord, has become the culmination of

our search.

Within our search we have discarded.
Given up as lost.

Those things which would hinder us
So that we may grasp that which is the
object of our mission-
God

A Time to Give Birth and a Time to Die

We have come here

And in the coming

We are giving birth

For here is where what we are

Emerges

And what we will be begins life.

We have come here

And in the coming

We watch old things die

For here is where what we were is

Translated

And new life begins.

A Time to Throw Stone and a Time to
Gather Stones

We practice with a goal of perfection.
We have early morning meetings

and seemingly get nowhere.
We plan, appoint committees, rehearse.

We work together to produce
a product that has our name on it.

We are blessed through our work.
Others are blessed by our product.

Proclamation will be the touring 59
group from Western this summer.
They will be travelling throughout
the midWest giving concerts in
churches and banquets in an effort
to make Western's name more
familiar.

Proclamation

Tim Avis

If  I  had  all  the  riches  this  world  has  to  give;
All the comfort that it brings; never needing anything
1 could search the whole world over far and wide
To find this precious love

That was sent from God above.

If  1  had  all  the  riches  this  world  has  to  give;
And I gave it all away; every penny to my name
To  some  beggar  on  life's  dark  and  lonely  street;
All the kindness found in me could not win eternity.

It wouldn't be enough, no, it wouldn't be enough
To buy one splinter of the tree that Jsus died on.
And it couldn't pay the price for one single drop of blood
That was shed for my salvation.

PLAY

In the heated cacophony of life
There flows the cool harmony of Love
And in its counterpoint dane Love's possessor's.
Lifting their voices to Love's Great Author,
They desire to be an ever'sung paean of glory
And blithely render life's hymnal in cheerful
work and delighted play.

PRACTICE

A song is a beautiful thing
Voices join in full-throated melody
And lift to blend in glorious harmony.

Men's  hearts  are  moved;

E'en lifted to ecstacy with a song

For a song is a beautiful thing.

But when I sing, Lord,

Let it not be for this alone

Lest fruitless I be when day is done.

Touch, Thou, my lips.

Thy beauty let me see.

And fill my heart with love eternally

That men may come to know and adore Thee.

Lord, this prayer 1 bring.
Lord, for Thee I sing.

PERFORMANCE

To seek the unsought

To teach the unsought

To bring the unbrought

This is God's great command.

To tell the untold

To bring to the fold

To let them behold

The Christ who died for every land.

There are souls who have never heard
The message of God's own Word,
The news that salvation is offered to all
Who on Jesus, the Saviour, will call.

There are people across the sea

Who from bondage could be set free

If we would be willing to spend and be spent

That the nations would hear and repent.

To tell the untold
To bring to the fold
To let them behold the Christ
Who died for every land.

A Time for War and a Time for Peace

The lessons of defeat,

the exhilaration of victory,
It keeps them going.

Play after play.
They grit their teeth

and plow through defense.
Get that ball to the goal--

either over the line or through the hoop.
The unity of teamwork brings victory,

even through defeat.

This IS part,
This is not all.

For each person carries with him

his own memories of this year
The friends, the events, the people.

Some of us will go on.
Some of us will return,
None of us will ever be the same.

Change is constant
The only thing unchangeable
is the Word of God.

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God and
keep His commandments. For this is the whole duty of man."
